Welcoming Joep Breedveld to the MAAS Family

Joep drives a Porsche GT3 Cup car in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, and wears the MAAS Aquanova Turquoise on his wrist. This is how that happened.

Welcoming Joep Breedveld to the MAAS Family

Sharing an obsession for racing.

We drove to Circuit Zandvoort on one of the open pit lane days of the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux season. The kind of day where engineers and drivers work side by side to find the perfect setup before the races begin. Teams everywhere, cars being adjusted, lap times being analyzed. That afternoon, we sat down with Joep and his team to meet in person and later we handed him our bestseller, with a bracelet we had personally adjusted to fit his wrist.

He is also the kind of person who, the moment he saw the MAAS Aquanova Turquoise, knew it was his. He put it on. Went out on track and set his best lap time of the day. If that isn't an introduction into the sport?

The moment he saw it.

Joep had already seen the Aquanova online. He had seen the MAAS logo on his racing glove. But the moment he held it in his hands for the first time, he said something that stayed with us.

"Ah what a great watch guys, I already had a luxury feeling when I saw it online and on the glove, but in real life you really get that luxury feeling that MAAS radiates. What surprised me most is how refined it sits on the wrist, even with my slender wrists."

That is the kind of reaction you cannot script. That is someone who gets it.

Why Joep? And why now?

Joep Breedveld is 19 years old. He started karting at age 10, climbed every class, and in 2025 dominated the Porsche Sports Cup Deutschland with multiple wins and two championship titles. He was selected for the Porsche Talent Pool. He was one of four finalists at the Porsche GB Junior Shootout at Silverstone. In 2026 he is racing the Porsche GT3 Cup car in the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux with Race Art, competing at Zandvoort, Spa-Francorchamps, Zolder, Imola, Hockenheim and Assen.

Besides racing, Joep coaches drivers in karting and car racing, analyzes race data for teams, and studies Econometrics and Economics at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. His father Ed once told us that Joep's strength lies in reading data and implementing it immediately on track. That is where he makes the difference. And you see it in the lap times.

When we told Aaron about Joep, his reaction was immediate. The fact that Joep saw a match in us and never downplayed it, that he genuinely respected what three Dutch brothers are doing in this industry, that meant everything. Joep wears watches because he loves them, especially the bold and sporting ones. And he races across multiple countries, which is exactly the international stage that MAAS is stepping onto.

On the glove. On the wrist. On the track.

The MAAS logo sits on Joep's racing glove. Every time he grips the wheel of his Porsche GT3 Cup car, on circuits across the Benelux and Germany, MAAS is there.

It is a small detail. But in racing, small details are everything.

Watches and motorsport have shared the same language for over a century. Precision. Timing. The obsession with getting every detail exactly right. We built the Aquanova with that same obsession and we are proud to say that Joep races with it!

The Aquanova Turquoise.

The watch Joep chose is the boldest in our collection. A 40mm automatic timepiece powered by the Swiss Sellita SW200-1 movement, assembled in Italy by craftsmen in the Pavia region. The turquoise dial is unmistakable. On the wrist of someone who races for a living, it feels exactly right.
